A Statute of the State of Andhra Pradesh established the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) in 1998. Since its inception, the University has been home to vital conversations on law and justice. Staying in line with that NALSAR is now home to India’s first Animal Law Center in collaboration with HSI/India. The Centre creates curriculums on animal welfare laws, develops and publishes research pertaining to animal welfare issues. It also conducts workshops on animal laws and animal welfare issues with judicial magistrates, animal welfare advocates, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders in the government.
