The formulation and implementation of Public Policy in India has often been characterised by a failure to bridge the anticipated needs with the actual outcome of the policy and legislative framework. This has not only resulted in the stunted economic growth of the country but also isolated the benefit of the Government policies to only certain segments of the society. Policies have been altered, reversed and even scrapped more frequently than warranted by normative norms.
It was in this pretext, that the NALSAR Public Policy Forum was envisioned by a few students of the college in 2015 to kindle the interest of students in the field of Public Policy. The area of public policy has seen a revival in the last few years with the Government entities increasingly taking inputs from various policy think tanks and research institutes.
As part of outreach efforts to inculcate an interest among students on matters of public policy and governance, we have been holding talks and lectures by eminent personalities in the field. Previously we have hosted renowned personalities such as Arun Shourie, P. Sainath, Brinda Karat, S.Y. Quershi, Yogendra Yadav, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and the like. Video recordings of the previous lectures in the Series can be accessed here.
The Facebook page of the Public Policy Group is a good source to remain updated on the upcoming talks and events organised by the Group, and can be accessed here.
