Description: The Animal Law Centre at Nalsar University of Law is collaborating with the Michigan State University, College of law to bring you the very first Teachers Training Program on Animal Protection Laws. This 2.5 day program will focus on the teachings of Animal Laws, the updates in the laws and more importantly this interactive and inclusive program will shed light on new, tried, tested and successful methods of teaching Animal Laws by experts in the field.
Instructors:
Professor David Favre: David Favre has been a professor of law at Michigan State University College of Law for over forty years. He served as Dean of the College for five years and teaches in the area of Property Law, Animal Law, and International Environmental Law. Professor Favre has written a number of articles and books dealing with animal issues including such topics as animal cruelty, wildlife law, animal rights, ethical use of animals, and international control of animal trade. He has organized international conferences on animal law and has presented to international audiences on a wide assortment of topics. He created and is editor-in-chief of the largest animal legal web resource, www.animallaw.info. Now residing on a farm in Lower Michigan, Professor Favre shares his space with sheep, chickens and the usual assortment of dogs and cats.
N. Jayasimha- Jayasimha is currently the Director of Animal Law Centre as well as the Managing Director of the Humane Society International/India. Jayasimha manages HSI’s programs in India related to farm animal welfare, wildlife, and animals used in research, as well as several countrywide campaigns. Jayasimha has previously served as a Member-at-Large of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) and the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision on Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) both of which are part of India’s Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. He has also served as a member of the legal, editorial and drafting committee of the AWBI to suggest amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960. Jayasimha received a law degree from Bangalore University and is enrolled as an advocate in the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
