Rohan Cherian Thomas
Dr. Rohan Cherian Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He joined NALSAR in July 2023. He was earlier an Assistant Professor (Law) at National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ). He taught at NLUJ for 9 years. He was Chairperson of the University Moot Court Committee, Executive Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Studies, Executive Director of the Centre for Consumer Law Research & Practice and Chief Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property Studies at NLUJ.
He has obtained B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) from Gujarat National Law University. He went on to earn his LL.M. in Intellectual Property Rights from NLUJ. He is a Junior Research Fellowship holder. He earned his Ph.D. in the area of Performer's Rights from NLUJ on the topic - 'The Conundrum of Rights Pertaining to Background Performers'. His area of focus is Performer's Rights. He has a keen interest in Copyright Law, Patent Law, International Intellectual Property Law, Tort Law, Environmental Law and Consumer Law. He writes on these areas and has participated in several national and international conferences and seminars of repute, on the same.

His research work is in the areas – Copyright Law, Patent Law, International Intellectual Property Law, Tort Law, Environmental Law and Consumer Law.
In his doctoral research, he engaged with members of the Indian film industry to closely understand the law and its practical application within the industry. He aspires to continue this practice and suggest beneficial policy solutions to the Government.
